Being a huge fan of Mexican cuisine, crafting a batch of fresh guacamole has become an absolute necessity for me. I find myself reaching for guacamole and chips at any time of the day, and its compatibility extends beyond being a mere dip. This delightful concoction elevates the flavor of burritos, quesadillas, and even serves as a perfect sidekick to enchiladas. The versatility of guacamole knows no bounds, making it a fitting accompaniment to nearly any meal or a delightful standalone salad.
The guacamole recipe provided below serves as a helpful guide, allowing you the flexibility to adjust the quantities of each ingredient based on your unique taste preferences. Additionally, feel free to experiment by incorporating other ingredients that pique your interest. For those who relish spiciness, consider kicking it up a notch with peppers like the fiery Carolina Reaper or Pepper X, known for their scorching heat. Personally, I opt for a milder kick and choose serrano peppers.
Adding a personal touch, my mom enhances her guacamole recipe by incorporating sour cream, lending it a creamy texture that enhances the overall experience. The realm of guacamole customization doesn’t stop there—enthusiasts often throw in exotic additions such as mango, cheese, bacon, and Mexican street corn. The philosophy here is simple: if you like it, throw it in! Let your culinary creativity run wild, and I sincerely hope you relish every flavorful bite of your personalized guacamole creation. Enjoy!
Guacamole Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 avocados mashed
- 1 lime squeezed
- 1 tomato diced
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped
- red onion diced, as desired
- 1/2 Serrano pepper as desired for heat
- 1 pack La Preferida Guacamole seasoning mix
Instructions
- Cut open avocados lengthwise, remove the pit, and use a spoon to scoop out the flesh into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Use a fork and gently mash the avocado, leaving it a little bit chunky at this point.
- Add La Preferida Guacamole seasoning mix
- Add cilantro, red onion, and tomatoes and stir until combined.
- Squeeze 1 lime into bowl
- Taste and add ingredients to your taste
- Add Serrano pepper or other pepper for heat if desired
- You may place it in the fridge if making more than 30 minutes ahead of time. I recommend plopping a pit in the middle, adding a splash of lime juice to the top layer, and covering it very tightly with plastic wrap (so no air gets to the guacamole) in order to prevent browning.
- Serve at room temperature or cold, whichever you prefer!
